about

Mike Sherer, the Owner and Lead Guide at Wenatchee Fly Co. Guide Service, started fly fishing in the lakes and rivers of the Midwest at a very young age. At that time, he set out to catch as many species on the fly as he could, and to this day his running total is at 72 species. Whether it’s a Tarpon from the Gulf of Mexico, or a Rainbow Trout from the Yakima river, Mike enjoys the thrill of pursuing all species on the fly.

Mike graduated from Indiana University with his Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology. After college, he was recruited to a Colorado-based professional cycling team where he proceeded to travel the world racing for 3 years. After this, he was determined to cultivate his passion for fly fishing into a life-long profession. For 4 years, Mike was a Guide and Manager for a premier fly fishing club in Colorado.

Mike carefully studies each fish’s habitat, behavior, and diet in order to craft his approach and teach his techniques to clients of all ages and ability levels. He loves the sport of fly fishing because one can dedicate their entire lives to learning more about it, but can never truly “know it all”; and yet, Mike dedicates over 200 days each year on the water, determined to master the art.

After years of visiting the area, Mike and his wife, Hanna, finally moved to the beautiful Wenatchee Valley in 2019. Together, they enjoy camping and hiking with their son and two dogs, always in search of their next fishing excursion. Mike is looking forward to guiding you on your next fly fishing pursuit.
