Yakima River Fishing Report 1/27

The Yakima is in great shape right now. The upper river is fishing well but with all the snow fishing access is pretty tough. All the upper boat launches are too snowed in to float right now. As you move down towards the canyon many launches are accessible such as KOA, Ringer, Bighorn, Lmuma, and Roza. You can put in at Umtanum but I would not recommend taking out there. Big Pines is not accessible due to large ice build-up.

The fish are still hanging out in their winter holding spots. Look for slow deep holes to find fish. Nymphing is producing the majority of the fish but we are grabbing a few on streamers. Under the bobber, we are using eggs, worms, pats, and leeches. I have also been seeing lots of surface action with midges.

We are not too far away from Spring fishing. We are still running our winter special through the end of March for $325 for a 5hr trip with lunch. February and March are great months to get out on the water. Give us a call a 509-670-7157 or shoot us a message at mike@wenatcheeflyco.com
